If you follow me on facebook, you’ve undoubtedly seen me sharing things about Real MVP Kids, a Kickstarter project my friend is involved in. This project is a series of board books celebrating all the things that make us unique and lovely as human beings!
I wanted to let you know that the project has already reached the fully funded level and they are now working toward some stretch goals! Today is the last day to be a part of it!
I absolutely loved the three books they sent me electronically to look at and review, and now that the project is funded, I am counting the days until I can hold all eight board books in my hands and share them with my kids!
We had the privilege of reviewing Celebrate! BedTime, Celebrate! Our Differences, and Celebrate! Going to the Doctor. Once I took a sneak peek myself, I knew I had to share them with my kids so I used our ChromeCast to cast the pdfs onto our TV screen and we read them together one day for school.
At first, I only called over my youngest three – ages 6, 4, and 2 – thinking that they would enjoy it the most, being in the target age range.
But within minutes, both my 10-year old and 12-year old had wandered over, drawn by the pleasant cadence of the rhyming text, the engaging, full-color illustrations, and most especially, the different languages in the bedtime book. All five kids (and I!) loved learning how to say good night in the various languages included!
After reading them, we talked about what we each liked, and the girls (6, 10, and 12) all commented on the cultural diversity of the people and how they really liked that so many different people were included. I concur!
I love all the skin colors included in these books as well as the hearing aids and wheelchairs and adopted siblings! I love how it shows both adults and kids interacting cross-culturally!
The page that my kids spent the most time on was the last page of each book. They loved seeing each of the Real MVP Kids characters and learning their names. They explored the last names, matching siblings, and guessing what country they might be from. Then they went back through the books to find each character and see their parents. My 4 and 6 year olds were so excited that the books featured the same characters! They loved finding the same friends in each book!
There’s really nothing I didn’t love about these books! Our family gives them five stars and highly recommends them! Please consider hopping over to the Kickstarter page by clicking on any of the images and supporting this campaign! This kind of books are so needed in our world!
